A national non-profit association to support hemp growers has been formed in Germany. Nutzhanf-Netzwerk e.V. (“Hemp Network”) will promote hemp among German farmers and work to develop more local processing facilities, said Jörg Fierek, a vice-chairman of the new group.

Joachim Klack, a farmer and industrial hemp grower from Versmold in Westphalia was named the association’s chairman.

“We also want to make the advantages of industrial hemp better known to consumers in order to stimulate demand,” said the association’s manager, Aaron Kamperschroer.

Nutzhanf-Netzwerk said it will also advance opportunities for the use of industrial hemp in the construction sector as a way to help mitigate climate change.

Industrial hemp growers and processors and consumers interested in industrial hemp are invited to join the association.
